The Reading Program at I Can Academy offers a progressive approach to reading development. Reading Goal 1 establishes a strong foundation in letter sounds, phonemic awareness, and CVC words, promoting confident and fluent readers. Goal 2 builds on this foundation by focusing on CVC words, blends, digraphs, and silent E, fostering a lifelong love of learning. Reading Goal 3 advances students' skills in inflected endings, word ending patterns, and fluency for 1-2 syllable words, ensuring essential reading proficiency. In Reading Goal 4, students master multisyllabic word decoding, fluency, and comprehension, witnessing remarkable progress. Goal 5 enhances fluency and comprehension through targeted instruction and metacognitive strategies. Reading Goal 6 offers dynamic instruction in fluency, comprehension, and metacognitive strategies, complemented by engaging book club discussions, empowering students to become confident readers and critical thinkers.
